If all countries would sanction or make such statements when a citizen of theirs faces a judicial process the world would be terrible.
The rapporteur for Albania in the Parliament of the EP, Isabel Santos, in a press conference in Tirana, has dealt a blow to Greece for the case of Fredi Beleri.
She stated that she is sorry for the official Athens statements about Fredi Beleri, as she emphasized that if all countries would sanction or make such statements as Greece, the world would be terrible. Santos said that the case is under trial and must be waited until justice comes out with a complete decision.
"I am sorry for this kind of statement from Greece. As far as I know, the judicial authorities are doing their job, it is an issue related to the elections and something bad that has been done, given that it has not been closed by the judicial bodies, so we have to wait for the court's decision. It is a case in court. If all countries would sanction or make such statements when a citizen of theirs faces a judicial process the world would be terrible. We will come to a conclusion after justice speaks. I am following the case, I am very attentive to this case, I am following the information, but what we can say is that I am waiting for the decision ", said Santos.
She also said that the EU will closely follow the law on Protected Areas. Santos stated that it will be followed carefully how this new law will be done. Among other things, she added that media freedom is one of the key factors they are monitoring.
" We are closely following the law on Protected Areas. To see how the implementation of this new law will be done. Our attention is also focused on media freedom. The situation needs to improve when it comes to the environment for journalists as well as the transparency of media ownership and funding.
The integration of minorities is just as important is an important topic. This is an important issue where we need to build a solidary and strong society. I wanted to emphasize the regional and international role of Albania that is in line with EU values for us at this moment is something that we need to clarify. Congratulating the country on how they are promoting the country in the global sphere" , said Santos.
