A magnitude 5 earthquake shook western Turkey today.
The epicenter of the tremors was located 42 km southeast of Tekirdağ and about 21 km south of Marmara Ereğlisi, at a depth of 14 kilometers.
About 120,000 residents have rushed out of their homes in terror. So far, there are no reports of significant material damage or injuries.
Today's tremor occurred in an area with high seismic activity, where strong earthquakes are often recorded due to the collision of tectonic plates in the Sea of Marmara.
