Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and French President Emmanuel Macron will meet today at the official presidential residence, the Elysee Palace.
Prime Minister Meloni will visit Paris today to promote Rome's candidacy for hosting Expo 2030.
Expo 2030 is a world fair to be held in 2030. The candidate countries to host Expo 2030 are South Korea (Busan); Italy (Rome); Ukraine (Odesa); Saudi Arabia (Riyadh). The host country of Expo 2030 will be chosen in 2023 by the member states of the International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE).
"Bilateral relations that unite France and Italy, mainly the implementation of the Treaty of Quirinale, but also issues in the European Union and common support for Ukraine, will be the main topics on the negotiating table," according to a statement issued by the French presidency.
"The meeting will serve to prepare the NATO summit in Vilnius on July 11 and 12. The exchange of ideas will be an opportunity to reaffirm joint support for Ukraine on military, humanitarian, economic, diplomatic and judicial issues," the statement said.
