The Israeli military has announced that it has killed Bahaa Baroud , a Hamas commander, during an airstrike carried out in Gaza.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) statement, Baroud was allegedly involved in planning and organizing several attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians.
The IDF said it was considered an "immediate threat" to Israeli troops and that it was hit in an air operation deemed to be accurate.
"Baroud posed an immediate threat to IDF troops and was hit and eliminated in a precision airstrike," the army says.
The announcement comes just a day after the Israeli military said it had also killed Izz al-Din al-Haddad, identified as the commander of Hamas' military wing, in another strike in Gaza.
The situation in the region remains tense, as military operations and airstrikes continue between Israel and Hamas.
