Tensions between Qatar and Iran have entered a new phase of escalation, after authorities in Doha took a strong diplomatic step against Iranian representatives.
Qatar's Foreign Ministry has declared military and security attaches at the Iranian embassy, along with their staff, "persona non grata," giving them 24 hours to leave the country.
This decision comes after a series of attacks that Qatar attributes to Iran, the most recent of which targeted the industrial city of Ras Laffan, one of the most important points for the country's energy sector.
Qatari authorities see this as a direct threat to national security, reacting with immediate measures and toughening their stance towards Tehran.
So far, no official reaction has been reported from the Iranian side, while the development is expected to affect diplomatic relations and stability in the region.
