Will Luan Hoxha testify about the affair with Gërdec? GJKKO resumes the
Luan Hoxha, Shkëlzen Berisha and Fatmir Mediu

Tomorrow's session has been postponed to 09.00, as it seems that the list of witnesses is running out and this is an alarm bell for Fatmir Mediu...

The Special Court will resume tomorrow the hearings against former minister Fatmir Mediu for the Gërdec tragedy.

During the last few weeks, every Thursday at GJKKO, various witnesses were called, where they were asked about what happened in the "death factory". At the end of December, Shkëlzen Berisha, the son of former Prime Minister Berisha, appeared to testify. His name has been mentioned on several occasions, but he has denied any involvement.

But from the entire list of 71 witnesses, only one person is important and that is Luan Hoxha. The general is among the few who mentioned Shkëlzen's name during a statement he made at the American embassy. He then fled to the US.

If you look at the list of witnesses, after Shkëlzen Berisha, two names should have been asked, Ylli Pinari and Luan Hoxha, but in the last session GJKKO passed these two names and asked to call Jorgo Mino, a soldier, and Ndue Marku, a lawyer. The latter refused with the argument that they have been convicted for the tragedy and cannot speak. Now it remains to be seen when the court will decide on calling Luan Hoxha and if the latter will agree to testify.

But why is Luan Hoxha so important to the process?

General Hoxha tried to become a sacrifice when the tragedy happened, after he was taken as a defendant. But he left for the USA and asked for asylum, which was accepted. Before leaving, Luan Hoxha met the American ambassador at the time, John Withers, where he confessed the involvement of Shkëlzen Berisha and Mediu in the tragedy. He told the ambassador that the prime minister's son had pressured him to proceed without delay with the ammunition. Asked if he had informed the prosecution, Hoxha replied that he had filed every piece of evidence, excluding the information about Shkëlzen Berisha.

In the meantime, it is learned that after he fled to the USA, he returned to repent. It is known that there he confessed all the deeds of the Berisha family as far as Gërdec is concerned, and rumors say that his testimony is one of the key elements that convince the Americans to declare Berisha and his family "Non grata".

Tomorrow's session has been left for 09.00, as it seems that the list of witnesses is running out and this is an alarm bell for Fatmir Mediu, since once the testimonies are closed there is no more delay and the trial can end. This means that we will have a final decision against him in a few months. / Pamphlet
