The leader of the Opportunity Party, Agron Shehaj, declared that the force he leads won the race on May 11, if it comes to rivalry between new parties.
Shehaj emphasizes that no one believed that "Mundësia" would secure a seat in parliament a year ago when it was created.
He says that change does not happen overnight, but is a long-term process. The opportunity is already in a restructuring process, to become a Western power, says Shehaj.
"I was a contestant, I am the party leader with a group of young people for a new political project to provide an alternative in Albanian politics. If we look at the last elections, we can say that we clearly won the race, if there was a competition between new parties. We would like a better result than we got, many expect things to change within a day, every change has a process.
We created a political party 1 year ago, no one believed that we would enter parliament. We have had a good result especially in urban centers. We have had a disappointing result in villages and rural areas. This is a good thing, because we are valued by professionals, the middle class.
"The bad news is that we need to work more in rural areas. It was the first year of the creation of this party. I was the only financier of this party, this belongs to an initial phase. Now we have started a reorganization process, and we are structuring ourselves as a Western party, with a long-term plan," Shehaj told "News24".
