During his speech in tribute to the passing of former socialist leader Fatos Nano, Prime Minister Edi Rama also touched on his meeting with Slobodan Milosevic in Thessaloniki.

Rama said that today, among those who honor him after his death, there are also those who once attacked him and called him a traitor for that meeting. He added that one day, when the full words of that meeting and Nano's contributions to the Albanian cause in Kosovo and Macedonia come to light, history will definitively place his name in the ranks of honor of Albania.

"Among those who honored our president after his death, there were also those who called him a traitor because he met Milosevic during an activity in Thessaloniki, and many others that are not worth remembering. I heard from him the conversation with the Belgrade tycoon and I have an idea if Fatosi left it written down somewhere, but not only that in that meeting, there is nothing traitorous about the conversation, but when one day the words spoken in that meeting come out as they should, as well as Nano's meetings and conversations with patriots of the national movement for the freedom and rights of Albanians in Kosovo and Macedonia, then no one will be able to doubt that the patriotic contribution of the founding president of the Socialist Party for the liberation of Kosovo ranks Nano in the ranks of honor in the history of Albania," said Rama.

At the end of his speech, Rama said that "of course he can't say goodbye, but just don't ever let Fatos Nano die."
