Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi

The Chairman of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted to the statements of the European Union Enlargement Commissioner, Marta Kos, made during an interview with "Politico".

In a post on social media, Bardhi called the commissioner's stance unacceptable, emphasizing that she has made Albanian society responsible for the phenomenon of corruption in the country.

He stated that Albanians do not accept corruption and cannot be considered a corrupt society, adding that responsibility for specific cases is individual.

Bardhi leveled accusations at Prime Minister Edi Rama, calling him responsible for protecting corruption at government levels.

In his statement, Bardhi also mentioned specific issues, claiming that certain corruption cases have been politically protected, while emphasizing that SPAK, according to him, is not hindered by citizens, but by political interference in investigations.

In conclusion, he asked the European Union institutions to distance themselves from such statements, which he described as inappropriate and offensive generalizations for Albanian society, underlining that Albanians remain among the most pro-European peoples.

"The position of Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos, which has been disseminated in the Albanian media following her interview in Politico, which holds Albanian society co-responsible for Edi Rama's corruption, is unbelievable."

No, Honorable Commissioner;

Albanian society does not accept corruption, Albanians are not corrupt.

The responsibility for corruption and its acceptance and protection is only personal to Edi Rama. The corruption of Belinda Balluku has not been accepted by Albanians, but Edi Rama has defended it with the deputies - cardholders in the Albanian Parliament. SPAK is not preventing Albanian society from fighting corruption, but it is preventing Edi Rama from interfering in the investigations of a specific case.

"You have no right to insult Albanian society, which is the most pro-European people in the world. We despise your generalization and assessment of Albanian society, and we persistently demand that European institutions distance themselves from such generalizations that are inappropriate for Albanians," Bardhi writes.
