Ilir Meta continues to send messages to the opposition candidate for prime minister. Two days ago he made a strong statement, when he said that the opposition should come up with a candidate that is widely accepted inside and outside the country. So Meta ruled out the possibility of Berisha being a candidate to lead the government in the 2025 elections.
Today Meta reiterated such a thing and this time from Korça. While PD is fighting over who has the seal and Berisha is isolated, Meta has set in motion to organize the party for the upcoming elections. And he again focused on the model of how the incoming prime minister should be.
" I think that in any case, Albania will have a much more responsible and patriotic prime minister, and it is absolutely the duty of every citizen to contribute to a government that accepts accountability and that puts an end to the bullying of its citizens and at the same time the dramatic depopulation of the country ", said the leader of PL.
On Thursday, Meta convened the National Steering Committee of the Freedom Party, where he made it clear that he does not agree with the way the opposition is acting. He also said that he does not accept that Berisha will be prime minister if the opposition wins the elections. He has hinted that he is "non grata" and not accepted by everyone.
" The Freedom Party is ready to contribute to the consolidation of all opposition forces, in a consensual and solid organization, to prepare and present to the Albanians the political offer that would return to them the sovereignty of the election, will return to them the governance of caring and accountable, return those who left and speed up integration in Europe, winning the next parliamentary elections. The Freedom Party is determined, in view of this goal, to welcome any contribution from inside and outside politics that will serve a consensus, participation and representation of the opposition forces as wide as possible, starting from the simple voter and to the highest level of the opposition leadership, through the election of a candidate for Prime Minister, who would enjoy the widest possible political and social support ", said Meta.
And the stinging message was given at the end: " Politics exists not to serve the leaders or their interests, but as a service to the citizens, as an opportunity to make them more comfortable, to make the country stand with its neighbors with dignity , partners and allies ".
Meta was careful to point out that a candidate for prime minister must have international support, which Berisha does not have. So it seems as if Meta is aligning itself with some deputies within the DP who do not like Berisha and is giving signals that in 2025 we will have a fierce fight within the opposition. If the court does not speak and the seal remains with Basha, Berisha will be in the hands of Meta and the conflict signals have been given.
