The Socialist Party's National Assembly will meet today on the outskirts of Tirana, while Prime Minister Edi Rama will make public the names of the government cabinet, as well as those of the Speaker of the Assembly and the Chairman of the Socialist Parliamentary Group.

At the Assembly meeting, Rama is also expected to unveil the milestones of the government for the next 4 years and the challenges it will face, the priority remains the necessary reforms for European integration, under the slogan "Albania 2030 in the EU". It will also be of interest to learn how the new government will function, there will be mergers, unifications and creations of new ministries, in the name of structural reform. The SP Assembly will convene at 09:30 and is expected to last about 3 hours, where undoubtedly most of the time will belong to the Prime Minister, who is expected to unveil the objectives, the composition of the Government, as well as the structural changes.

The composition of the cabinet is expected to be a mix of technicians and political representatives, but there may also be innovations with new names coming in. Prime Minister Edi Rama has the luxury of experimenting, even though in public statements he has stated that a fourth term is a great responsibility.

According to the agenda, after Prime Minister Rama's speech, there will be a space for discussions.

The meeting of the Socialist Party's National Assembly takes place one day before the start of the Assembly's work, in the new legislature, resulting from the May 11 elections.

The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, has already decreed the date of September 12 for the meeting of the 11th legislature. A session in which the 140 new deputies will be sworn in to exercise their duties in

After the constitution of the parliament, Prime Minister Rama will have to submit to the President's office the proposals for ministers. The President has 7 days to decree the ministers, while then within 10 days the decrees of the head of state are passed for voting in a plenary session. In the same session, the Prime Minister also presents the political program of his government.

First session in the Assembly

The first session in the Assembly will be held on September 12 at 10:00, based on the decree of President Bajram Begaj.

This session is chaired by the oldest MP and the only decision that can be made is the establishment of a committee that verifies the MPs' mandates.

Parliament reconvenes again on Friday afternoon and MPs take the oath.

In this session, the new Speaker of the Assembly will be elected by secret ballot, proposed by the Socialist Party that won the elections.

According to the Constitution, the President of the Republic, at the beginning of the legislature, appoints the Prime Minister upon the proposal of the party that has the majority of seats in the Assembly.

Then, Prime Minister Edi Rama goes to Parliament and presents, within 10 days, the political program of the Council of Ministers along with its composition.

After the vote in Parliament, Prime Minister Edi Rama and the ministers take the oath before the President of the Republic and, after that, Edi Rama's new government officially begins work.
