Diaspora vote, over 50 thousand applications for May 11; here are how many were

In the first 10 days of the process of registering immigrants as voters for the May 11 parliamentary elections, over 50,000 Albanian citizens have applied.

The CEC announced that of these, 40,040 applications were reviewed and 25,295 of them were accepted. Meanwhile, 14,745 were rejected.

The registration process will continue until March 4, while with the agreed changes that are expected to be approved by the Assembly for the Electoral Code, the registration process may be extended by several days, while the CEC has requested the Government that in the case of Albanians living abroad, IDs or biometric passports be considered valid until May 31, giving the right to vote even to Albanians who do not possess a valid document, due to expiration.

In the May 11 elections, the right of Albanians living abroad to vote will be exercised for the first time, while their votes will be sent by mail and the counting process will begin with the first ballot box in Albania.
