The Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, reacted on Sunday after the initiative to dismiss the mayors from the four northern municipalities of Kosovo failed.
Sveçla has said that the Serbian List, both in the past and now guided by Belgrade, has exercised various forms for the Serbs to boycott today's process.
He congratulated the security institutions for completing this process without incident.
"I congratulate our security institutions, thanks to whose dedication today we concluded this election day without a single incident in the four northern municipalities. The Republic of Kosovo gave the opportunity to the citizens of the four northern municipalities to decide for the mayors of their four municipalities today. On the other hand, Lista Serbe, both in the past and now, through various forms guided by Belgrade, boycotted and sabotaged the democratic process as an opportunity to lead the municipalities to new elections. This subject embodied by undemocratic methods does not find itself in such a democratic process".
"The Central Electoral Commission, in cooperation with other institutions, once again proved its commitment to the implementation of its mandate and full respect for the right of citizens to decide on their future. We will continue our commitment to our citizens regardless of differences, our institutions will be at the service of all and for the security of our country. Kosovo is a democratic Republic, of all citizens without distinction", Sveçla wrote.
