Business climate in Kosovo, DASH: Limited potential for investment due to corruption

The US Department of State has published the report on the "investment climate in Kosovo" for the year 2023.

In this report, a number of problems are listed that prevent foreign investors from investing in Kosovo, among them corruption and the weak rule of law.

" Kosovo's potential to attract increased international investment is limited by numerous structural issues, including limited regional and global economic integration; political intervention in the economy and judiciary; unreliable power supply; a large informal sector; difficulties in establishing property rights; corruption; and weak rule of law, including lack of contract enforcement. The country's ability to sustain growth relies heavily on international financial support and remittances.

Kosovo's ongoing dispute with Serbia and the lack of formal recognition by many countries and international organizations, including the United Nations, also hinders investment and creates obstacles to doing business ," the report states.
