40 years since the historic purchase of Milan, Berlusconi's former

Fedele Confalonieri, one of the closest associates of former Milan president Silvio Berlusconi, has recalled the moments of the purchase of the red and black club on February 20, 1986 - an event that marked the beginning of a golden period in Milan's history.

In an interview with the Italian sports daily "Corriere dello Sport", Confalonieri described the atmosphere and the decision that, according to him, changed the course of the club.

According to Confalonieri, Berlusconi's decision to take over the management of Milan was communicated directly and unexpectedly.

Silvio, the group of Fininvest managers and I were returning from St. Moritz after the Christmas holidays. During that period we met Angeli, accompanied by Luca di Montezemolo. They were elegantly dressed in their mountain costumes, while we – as someone humorously said – looked like Toto and Peppino getting off at the Milan train station ,” he recalled.

Confalonieri added that during the flight Berlusconi called and announced his decision: " I have decided to take over Milan, let's get ready . "

According to him, the only one who expressed reservations was Adriano Galiani. “ He had the experience of co-ownership of Monza and knew that, at that time, such a deal could result in a loss ,” said Confalonieri.

Confalonieri also shared an episode from the day of the signing of the share transfer documents from Giuseppe Farina to Fininvest, Berlusconi's company.

" It was a very busy day. We started early in the morning at the office of the accountant of the time, Dr. Locateli, who was also an Inter fan, to sign the share transfer documents ," he confessed.

Immediately after signing, according to him, the group traveled to Paris for the official presentation of the new French television channel "La Cinq", where well-known personalities were present, including Michel Platini.

Berlusconi's purchase of Milan in 1986 is widely considered a turning point for the club, which in the following years achieved numerous successes in Italy and on the international stage. Confalonieri's account sheds light on the early moments of this period, providing behind-the-scenes details of one of the most important events in the history of the red and black club.
