The Opening Ceremony of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games will take place on February 6, 2026, at the San Siro Olympic Stadium in Milan, at 8:00 PM.
This grand event will involve a march of athletes through four different locations in Italy, including several well-known towns such as Predazzo, Livigno and Cortina d'Ampezzo, which will also hold special events and parade ceremonies.
At this edition of the Winter Olympics, many athletes will have the honor of carrying their countries' flags, representing the pride of their nation. In addition to prominent athletes such as Eliud Kipchoge from Kenya and Rebeca Andrade from Brazil, many countries will have their representatives during the ceremony.
However, for Albania, there were some changes. Following some recent developments, it has been confirmed that the Albanian flag will be carried by Lara Colturi, one of the most famous Albanian athletes in the discipline of alpine skiing, at the ceremony to be held in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Meanwhile, in Livigno, the flag will be carried by Deni Xhepa, another well-known name in Albanian alpine skiing.
For Albania, there will be no parade at the main stadium "San Siro", as countries with strong traditions in the Winter Olympic Games, which include more categories of disciplines, are mainly represented there. Albania, however, is present with its representatives in alpine skiing and it is a moment of pride for Albanian sport.
Due to the limited number of athletes and Albania's representation mainly in the alpine skiing disciplines, Albania will not participate in the athletes' parade in Milan, as it is learned that the NOC did not submit the list on time. Despite this, our representatives will feel proud of the honor given, carrying the national flag in two of the most famous cities of the Winter Olympic Games.
Meanwhile, officially, according to sources for Top Channel, the flag will be carried by Lara Colturi at the Cortina ceremony and Denni Xhepa in Bormio (Livigno).
