US President Donald Trump has stated that the United States intends to take control of Cuba "almost immediately", emphasizing that the operation in Iran will be completed first.
The comments were made during a speech at a private Forum Club dinner in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he also touched on the issue of the Iranian nuclear program.
"You can't give Iran a nuclear weapon. That's all I can say," Trump said.
The US president warned of the consequences that, according to him, a nuclear-armed Iran could have.
"They would use it very soon in a country called Israel... and I think we would be next, and that's not going to happen," he said.
On the other hand, Iran has consistently denied that its nuclear program is for military purposes.
During his speech, Trump also spoke about the state of the Iranian military forces, claiming that "their air force is now non-existent," while regarding the naval fleet, he added: "Every ship is at the bottom of the sea now."
He also said that the US and Israel have destroyed "85%" of Iran's missile capabilities, without providing independent sources of verification.
However, the US president hinted that the situation remains uncertain. "With war, you never know what happens. I think we'll end it, but it's a difficult period," he said.
The statement on Cuba was not accompanied by concrete details, leaving it unclear whether it was a genuine plan or a political stance.
