The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declared today from the podium in Durrës that Prime Minister Edi Rama "is like Khamenei" and added that "Rama feels like a dictator."
During his speech to supporters, Berisha accused the government of an authoritarian regime and warned of direct political confrontation.
"We will confront this regime directly and overthrow it. Rama is trying to close the door to Europe, but he will be locked in a cell. Rama will go to prison," Berisha said.
He also compared the prime minister to former dictator Enver Hoxha, stating that Rama "is capable of doing to Albanians what Enver Hoxha did."
Part of the speech was dedicated to the situation in Durrës. Berisha said that for four months, residents have been facing demolition of homes and insufficient compensation.
"For four months now, he has been confronting the residents of Durrës, whose property he is going to seize, whose homes are being demolished without motive and with ridiculous compensation. This is one case, and there are many such cases," he declared.
Berisha promised significant increases in salaries and pensions if the opposition comes to power. He guaranteed that “salaries will increase 2-3 times” and that “pensions will increase 2-3 times”.
According to the DP leader, no one's property will be violated and compensation will be fair.
"I give you my word that the new Durrës will be a city that will function best," Berisha added.
