Prime Minister Albin Kurti held a media conference after the joint meeting with Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Senator Peter Welch. He spoke about the continuation of the dialogue in Brussels with Serbia, saying that it cannot continue as if nothing happened after the terrorist attack in Banjska.
"Also, I informed the senators that the EU-mediated dialogue cannot simply continue as if nothing had happened. The next chapter of the normalization dialogue must now hold Serbia's aggressive act accountable. Basic steps must be taken so that the dialogue has at least a chance to succeed" , Kurti said, adding that there must be a balanced approach at the discussion table.
Kurti said that all attempts at destabilization must stop now and that now is the time for Serbia to be held responsible, otherwise "the attacks will continue again and again". Kurti also reiterated the necessity of implementing the Ohrid agreements, demanding that Serbia not violate them.
" Now it is more urgent than ever for Serbia to stop declaring that it will never recognize an independent Kosovo ," he said.
Kurti added that in the meeting with the American senators they talked about the findings from the terrorist attack in Banjska that show that Serbia is behind the attack.
" I presented the senator with the latest information about what we know about Serbia's involvement in the September 24 attack where our hero Afrim Bunjaku was killed. The American senator, Jeanne Shaheen, said that those responsible for the September 24 terrorist attack must be held accountable and held accountable, while adding that the US stands by Kosovo ," he said.
