Today, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, held a meeting with the US and EU envoys, Gabriel Escobar and Miroslav Lajçak, regarding the situation in the north of the country.
Through a press release, the Presidency informs that Osmani told Escobar and Lajçak that only the punishment of criminal groups can lead to a "stable and long-term stability".
"Therefore, we expect the law-enforcement institutions to do their work, in accordance with the law, so that the criminal groups responsible for the violence face justice," said Osmani .
The President of Kosovo has also mentioned the possibility of organizing new elections, which was a request of Escobar and Lajçak in the meeting the day before with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.
" The new elections in the municipalities in the north of the country can be organized in accordance with the current constitutional and legal framework and in this context, the democratic participation of the citizens living in these four municipalities must be ensured", said the president .
Osmani further emphasized that Kosovo is committed to working in cooperation with its international allies.
