Operation Albania, chapter three. After two failed attempts in October and November, when judges in Rome did not uphold the detention of asylum seekers, the government is ready to bring more migrants to the detention centers in Gjadra and Shëngjin.
Italian media report that there are 11 foreigners, including Egyptians and Bangladeshis, on board the Navy patrol ship Cassiopea, which will stop in Shëngjin and then the migrants will be transported to Gjadri, after verifications and procedures.

The agreement between the Albanian and Italian governments foresees that adult male migrants, rescued by Italian authorities' ships and considered not vulnerable, will be accommodated in centers in Albania. Furthermore, the sine qua non is that the migrants come from safe countries for which an accelerated asylum application procedure is foreseen.
Failed attempts
The first transfer took place in mid-October, when 16 migrants were transported to Albania, of whom 4 were immediately repatriated, two because they were minors and two others because they were vulnerable. Thus, 12 migrants from Bangladesh and Egypt remained in the Gjader center, but they too were quickly returned to Italy.
The Rome court had in fact established the inadmissibility of the accelerated procedure since the two countries of origin, Egypt and Bangladesh, would not be considered safe, even in light of a recent and controversial ruling by the Court of Justice of the EU.
The executive tried again on November 6, transferring 8 people to Albania, including 6 from Egypt and 2 from Bangladesh. However, in this case too, the judges refused to detain them.
