Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reiterated his call to Russia for a mutual ceasefire in attacks on energy infrastructure.
He stressed that Ukraine is ready to act in the same way if the Russian side stops the strikes. "If Russia is ready to stop attacks on our energy infrastructure, we will respond in kind. This proposal was conveyed to the Russian side through American mediation," Zelensky said.
A similar proposal was made last week, when the Ukrainian president called for a ceasefire to be observed on the occasion of Orthodox Easter, which this year is celebrated on April 13 in Russia and Ukraine.
However, in his remarks on Monday, following an overnight attack on the Black Sea port of Odessa that killed three people and injured at least 16 others, Zelensky suggested that Moscow was showing no willingness to accept a ceasefire.
"We have repeatedly proposed to Russia a ceasefire, at least for Easter. But for them, all times are the same. Nothing is sacred," he declared.
